Getting a little In and Out after Tattoos

Okay, I’ll admit this title sounds dirtier than I intended. But if it got you to click, then…really, that’s on you. Anyway this week we will continue the odyssey in the desert where we get a little In and Out (burger) after getting $10 tattoos. Oh and we also hit a new rooftop bar, throw darts and enjoy a gondola ride! It’s going to be a fun one this week!

The Preamble: Checking in on our progress

Traveling with twenty-somethings has led to a very interesting group project – building a “beer-a-mid”. It began back in New York and continues where ever we roam. The first order of the day was to check in our progress. We will give you a last look next week, just before we head back to Michigan.

The Plan Made by the Crew

Although Stephen is usually our cruise director for fun activities while traveling, for this trip the twenty-somethings came up with suggestions of their own. For instance, going to Koolsville to enjoy a morning session with a $10 tattoo artist. Everyone signed up, except for the birthday boy and Stephen, who, as you know, is deathly afraid of needles and tattoo art. (JK!)

Some clearly turned out better than others but it was a SUPER fun experience regardless. And the way I look at it is, I know a great tattoo artist who can fix mine up and add to it. Can you guess which one I chose?

The Post Tattoo Feast at In and Out

Being from the mid-west, or as Stephen likes to say, the mid-east, we haven’t had the pleasure of an In and Out burger. While waiting for our turn with the artist, we visited In and Out’s website to come up with our orders. A big favorite was ordering food “animal style” which comes with meat, lettuce, mustard, tomatoes and grilled onion. Our order came to about $80 and included a big smile from the man at the drive through and paper hats for each of us.

The Gentlemanly Game of Skill

After such an eventful morning, many of us opted for some down time. I hit the sack. Jonny and Lydia hit the hot tub. And Connor and Stephen engaged in the age old game of skill, chance, and drinking, Beer Pong.

The Prelude: Strolling and Riding at the Venetian

Around dinner time, we made our way over to the Venetian to explore the shops and, most importantly, ride the gondolas around the canal. Since it was a windy and overcast day, we opted to enjoy the indoor ride rather than doing it outdoors.

The Main Event: Playing Rounds at Flight Club

If you know me, you know that my talents do not lie in throwing darts. In fact, I have had rounds that went SO BADLY, I drew a crowd of cheering hecklers. Thankfully, Flight Club believes that EVERYONE should have fun playing darts regardless of their skill level. They offer games like Killer, where you only have to shoot a limited set of numbers to win, and Snakes and Ladders, where success is based on making it to the finish first.

While the darts are steel tipped, the scoring is electronic and a video is made and displayed for every winning shot. The day after you visit, the winning videos are sent to you via email so you can enjoy your time again. But if darts aren’t your thing, you can visit their carousel bar and enjoy one of their very fancy cocktails.

Last Stop: Dinner and Beer at Brew Dog

We originally chose to visit Brew Dog because we wanted to enjoy their newly opened rooftop bar. Unfortunately the gusting winds made that not a possibility. Fortunately, their indoor space was vast, dimly lit and full cozy sofas.

This was actually the third Brew Dog we’ve been to and they never disappoint. The beer they brew is outstanding and their food is delicious. If you’re interested in a non-acholic option AND you like New England style IPA, let me recommend their Hazy AF! Very yummy.

And the fun doesn’t stop there

We couldn’t let Connor’s first full day of being 21 pass us by without a proper celebration of birthday cake and off key singing. The cake, from Walmart, was surprisingly moist* and delicious. We considered getting a fancy Vegas themed one but with a $500 price tag, we thought this was a better deal.

*My apologies for those who are triggered by this word. However, using “wet” was less seemly.

That’s a Wrap

That’s it for this week. Join us next week for our last day in Vegas where we visit Fremont street and win big!
