Hidden Gem – Cliff Bell’s Jazz Club in Detroit

Looking for some “travel insider” tips? Check out our collection of hidden gems. In these posts, we will highlight some amazing sites and experiences that are under-rated and often overlooked. But, let’s keep these just between us because we always want to be able to get in when we want to go!  This week, let’s talk about a local place that we adore, Cliff Bell’s Jazz Club in Detroit, Michigan.

Cliff Bells

How we found it

We first visited Cliff Bells in 2016 when looking for something to do on our anniversary. We discovered them by doing a Google search for “things to do in Detroit”. Even though they’ve been operating since 1935, no one we knew had visited them and we had never stumbled across them when driving or walking around the city. What a find!

Entertainment

You really need to make a reservation to be ensured a table in their cozy interior. Their show schedule runs from Wednesday through Sunday and the tickets are usually pretty inexpensive – often only $20 or $25 dollars.

Dining

They offer an upscale steakhouse fare with prices for an entrée ranging from $24 to $63. We’ve enjoyed everything we’ve ordered and I was very happy to find seafood options like oysters. If you don’t know, I have a bit of an oyster problem.

Cheers to us!

Beverages

Lastly, let’s talk about libations. Cliff Bell’s bar offers a variety of wine, craft beer and boozy cocktails. You’ll find whatever you need to celebrate a special occasion or to get your toes tapping.

In our opinion, Cliff Bells is a 10 out of 10 but be sure to keep it under your hat!
