Rockin’ the Kilts on St. Patty’s Day
As you may remember, we’ve been unpacking our time in South Boston where sang with the band, drank some golden ales, spied on some priceless works of art and smashed some lobster and chowder. All of it, leading up to the reason we were there…to catch the parade and mosh with the locals at the Dropkick Murphys concert at the MGM. Join us this week for an amazing time where we’re acting like locals and rockin’ the kilts, on St. Patty’s Day. The Pre-Game Since our hotel, the Cambria, was right on the parade route, we knew we’d need a strategy to get brunch and a good spot to watch…

Boston on the Holy Day of St. Practice
As you may recall, we found ourselves having the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day completely free of obligations. Last week we talked about the plan we hatched to drive the snakes out of South Boston (otherwise known as drinking a lot of beer at Irish Pubs.) This week we will explore the fun that can be had when you’re in Boston on the Holy Day of St. Practice. But first, a little run Since we were up unreasonably early, we decided to kick our day off with some exercise. The mister headed down to the treadmill, while did a little solo urban exploration. I’m not much of a runner these…

Driving the Snakes Out of South Boston
An amazing thing happened last October. We looked ahead at our calendar for March and realized we had the weekend of St. Patty’s day free. We had no running obligations, work obligations, or family obligations. That’s right, we were so free, we were practically footloose. What better time could there be for seeing the Dropkick Murphys, drinking some Guinness and for driving the snakes out of South Boston! (I’ll be honest, I don’t really know what that last part means. It’s just sort of a nod to lore around St. Pat and it made for a catchy headline. For the sake of this article, let’s just say it means drinking…

Our Last Chance to Hit it Big
This week we’re going to unpack our last two days in “Sin City” for Connor’s 21st birthday. In case you missed it: And this week, let’s talk about how we did with our last chance to hit it big! First things first…a check in on the Beer-a-mid Though this wasn’t our primary reason for the trip, checking on the progress of our “beer-a-mid” let us know how many more cans would need to be emptied to have a perfect structure. You see, we believe goal setting early in the day is the ONLY way to go! Next – Gambling at The Orleans Casino One of the “Twenty-something crew” was supposed…

Getting a little In and Out after Tattoos
Okay, I’ll admit this title sounds dirtier than I intended. But if it got you to click, then…really, that’s on you. Anyway this week we will continue the odyssey in the desert where we get a little In and Out (burger) after getting $10 tattoos. Oh and we also hit a new rooftop bar, throw darts and enjoy a gondola ride! It’s going to be a fun one this week! The Preamble: Checking in on our progress Traveling with twenty-somethings has led to a very interesting group project – building a “beer-a-mid”. It began back in New York and continues where ever we roam. The first order of the day…

How a Little Tempest Can Impact Your Day
We’re back from the hiatus we took to prepare for the Boston Marathon…where one of us ran the race and the other spectated. Needless to say, I think running it probably a bit easier. After all the runner’s path is marked, while us spectators had to find our own way to the finish! But I digress. This week we continue our odyssey in the desert, where we explore how a little tempest can impact your day. Jumping out of a perfectly good airplane To celebrate Connor’s big day, we loaded up the Behemoth and drove 45 minutes out to Go Jump in Jean, Nevada. Connor and Savanna wanted to go…

How Smart are You – going to Harvard for Free?
With the Boston Marathon right around the corner, we had to share with you an ABSOLUTE gem we uncovered on a recent trip. In Cambridge, which is a 20 minute ride from downtown Boston, visit the Fogg Museum at Harvard. It has priceless works of art and it costs NOTHING to go there. I mean, how smart are you – going to Harvard for free? How we found it For the first time since 2015, we went to Boston FOR FUN. That’s right, NO RUNNING. (Like at all!) But here’s the thing, we were going to Boston in mid-March. The odds of the weather being warm enough to walk the…

The Odyssey in the Desert – Part 1
I’ve always heard that the desert is a place to go to get clarity. It’s a place that is quiet, beautiful, and lends itself to introspection. After all, didn’t Jesus go to the desert to pray for 40 days? And the Israelites wandered the Sinai desert for 40 years, looking for the promised land, right? Well, this trip, wasn’t ANYTHING like all that. Join us for a winter’s odyssey in the desert where we take 6 young 20 somethings for their first trip to the land of holy rollers, I mean, HIGH rollers in Las Vegas. So…why Vegas? I’m sure some folks are wondering why we would take our youngest…

Walking in the Footsteps of the Rich and Famous
This was our third and final day in SOCAL. And after getting to pet the jellyfish and ending the day with a gondola ride, we felt it was time we got our “Hollywood On”! If you’ve never been, you’re in for a TREAT. Grab a cozy cup of something you like and join us as we go walking in the footsteps of the rich and famous! But first, food! As excited as we were to be heading to Hollywood, we first needed a little sustenance to get us going. We parked the car in a neighborhood and walked over to the Clark Street Diner. On the way, we got to…
