The Best of 2022

As a couple of people who value experiences, we’ve learned fun ways to remember everything we’ve done over the year. One of our favorites is our corkboard. We tack up things there like theater tickets, paper wrist bands, and bar coasters. On New Years Eve, we take down these mementos to place them in an envelope and write about where we’ve been. We also, of course, take lots of pictures to share with you all. So as we wind down the year, let us share with you the best of 2022!

The Dinner of the Year

Adventura

Paella cooking in a small cast iron skillet on a counter

Not only was their restaurant beautiful inside and out, they had olives. They had bubbly, dry wine. And would you LOOK at their paella?

The Best Brew

Beer Church Brewing

I can’t say I’d ever had a beer in a church before but this was a WHOLLY RIGHTEOUS experience. (See what I did there??) The interior was sunny and funky and their beer was tasteee!

The Best Scoop

The Comfy Cow

Since we were in Louisville, I’m happy to report that the bourbon ice cream was absolutely FABULOUS. However, as we all know, there is a last time for everything. This was the LAST time I’m going to fall for the sprinkles on the ice cream cone trick. I swear there were more on the floor, on the table and down my shirt than made it into my mouth.

The Most Fun Race

Ragnar Trail – Florida

What’s more fun that glamping with your besties in 90 degree heat and running nearly 200 miles? Apparently nothing! Stephen said this was the most fun he’d ever had at a race. And this was after he fell 5 times and lost his glasses in the dark.

The Moment Worth Every Penny

Box Seats at Hamilton

I am usually a very practical person. However, these seats were SOOOO WORTH it. I was so close, I could see the spit flying over the orchestra pit. What an amazing night!!

The Best Fun for the Least Money

Headquarters Beercade

A neon sign that reads "Don't Grow Up It's a Trap"

It was like we died and went to 1980’s teenager heaven. We got to drink beer, eat pizza and play video games. Oh, and the games were F-R-E-E. Like all you could play for $0.00!!

And What We Remember Most

The Crazy Weather

We felt it all this year:

  • The coooooldest ball game at Fenway
  • The wettest walk to the Brooklyn Bridge
  • Our skin sliding off our bones at Sea World in Florida
  • The craziest wind during a pub crawl through Long Island City

Meeting New Friends

Although the armadillo didn’t enjoy meeting me so much, I think the other creatures found me quite delightful.

Spending Time with Good People

Travel alone is amazing. But traveling alone…not as much. Our best memories are the great people we got see the world with this year!

And Starting The Travel Oracle to Share with You!
